CAD Designer Manufacturing Engineer Machinist, Senior Machinist

Position Title: CAD Designer
Reports to: VP or Director of Engineering
Revision Date: April 7, 2008

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assists Engineering with preparing drawings, models, incorporating changes to existing designs, and preparing documentation packages for release in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for prototype and production releases.  Assists with the selection of vendors and preparation of vendor specification documentation.

• Prepares engineering drawings and specifications primarily using SolidWorks, Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat to company SOPs.
• Creates and changes solid models on SolidWorks as directed by supervisor and project manager.
• Supports documentation releases by preparing release packages ready for check to Document Control per company SOPs.
• Incorporates redline changes to drawings and documentation as directed by engineering, and Document Control.
• Assists engineering with preparing work orders for the shop and purchase orders to outside vendors.
• Coordinates work schedule with company priorities in order to meet deadlines established by supervisor and project managers.
• Dimension drawings consistent with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
• Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with OSHA standards and other regulations.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers to determine manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
• Prepare orthographic and isometric drawings for use in catalog illustrations and other marketing literature.
• Perform other drafting tasks as assigned by the Engineering.
• Other non-routine duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Associates degree or better in Drafting or CADD from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Candidates must have 5 years current experience as a draftsperson using Solidworks CAD software.  Experience with documentation release generation knowledge, such as Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), is a must.  Candidates must have 4 or more years experience with file maintenance, and/or familiarity with engineering documentation and electronic systems.  Experience in development of Medical Device documentation is desirable.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates must be self-motivated and experienced in mechanical and electro-mechanical documentation to ASME Y14.3M and ASME Y14.5M standards.  Ability to generate engineering documentation (manufacturing instructions, test protocols or reports, etc.) is a strong plus.  Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, and Excel.  Must have computer literacy with an ability to learn and apply existing and new software applications as required.  Candidate must have very good organization, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports to: VP of Operations

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  As part of Operations organization supports development and manufacturing of medical devices in accordance with the US FDA requirements.

• Participate on multiple cross-functional teams during product development
• Lead product transitions from R&D to Manufacturing
• Perform PM duties for Manufacturing equipment
• Select, develop, and validate manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling
• Support production through efficient and effective identification and resolution of line issues.
• Identify and initiate process improvement projects that have meaningful impact on product quality and process yield
• Interface with R&D to provide timely feedback on product manufacturability in order to promote a strong design for manufacturability culture
• Properly document activities in accordance with best engineering practices, company procedures and regulatory requirements
• Interface with external vendors to source high quality equipment and fixtures
• Effectively train operators, technicians, and engineers on use of equipment and fixtures
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  BS Degree in Engineering or Biosciences.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  3-5-years manufacturing experience in a US FDA or EU MDD regulated medical device or pharmaceutical company.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Proficient with MS Office, MS Project, and SolidWorks.  Exceptional interpersonal communication/correspondence, project management and documentation skills required.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

Position Title: Machinist, Senior Machinist

Reports to: Machine Shop Manager
Department: R&D

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE OF JOB:  Machining and assembly of prototype devices.  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Machine and assemble prototype devices, test equipment, and tooling according to verbal and/or written specifications. 
• Work with Hantel and/or the Client’s staff in the design and fabrication of devices and machines. 
• Maintain accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in process, test results, measurements, labor (e.g. timecards) and special projects.  Maintain safety and cleanliness of machine shop.
• Actively work to minimize scrap. Complete projects in a manner consistent with corporate objectives. 
• Proactively communicate delays in project completion to management. 
• May assist in evaluating and selecting machine shop equipment.  May purchase and maintain small tools, equipment, and machine shop supplies, as needed.  May work with outside vendors in obtaining price quotes, purchase of equipment and supplies, and developing designs and specifications for devices.  May coordinate work of temporary workers as needed. 
• Follow written manufacturing instructions as needed.
• Assure compliance with all quality and company policies and procedures.
• Assure compliance with company quality policy.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  AA or equivalent in Machine Technology preferred. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 
Machinist - 4 to 6 years related experience in the medical device industry.
Sr Machinist – 6+ years related experience in the medical device industry

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Thorough working knowledge of the medical device industry is required.  Knowledge of machining operations is required.  Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches, make essential computations required.  Computer literacy is preferred.  CNC experience preferred.  SolidWorks experience preferred.
